Editorial policy
Active Music Review aims to be clear about what an article says, how certain it is and who has shaped its publication. We explain musical ideas in plain language and distinguish general suggestions from personal preference.
Accuracy and clarity
Writers and editors check factual statements against suitable source material and review explanations for clarity. We distinguish established context from interpretation, and present creative suggestions as options rather than universal rules. Where an article depends on a particular musical setting, its limits should be clear.
Independence and corrections
Editorial decisions are made for reader relevance, not in exchange for praise, payment or access. We do not promise coverage to contributors or partners. If a published item contains a material error, readers can report it through the Contact page; we review credible reports and correct the item when warranted, making the change clear.
Partner material
Paid, supplied or otherwise partner-supported material is identified plainly wherever it appears. Partners do not control our independent editorial coverage, and a partnership does not imply an endorsement of a product, service or musical viewpoint.
Images and illustrations
Images are chosen to support the subject and are not presented as documentary evidence unless that is their role. Some illustrations may be AI-generated; when relevant, they are identified as illustrations rather than photographs or records of real events.
Music gets interesting when you join in
Active Music Review is for people who want to make music, not just read about it. We focus on choices you can try, hear and adapt to your own practice.
